The Formal Dining Room sets the stage for grand dinners by candlelight. The dining table accommodates up to 16 guests.

The gardens of the nearly 90 acre property were re-designed in the late 19th century by Edouard André, landscape architect of Paris’ famed Tuileries Gardens and the Parc des Buttes Chaumont. The gardens boast a majestic canal modeled after Versailles, with numerous folies and sculptures spread throughout.
The original structure was built in 1640, with major renovations and additions made in both the 18th and 19th centuries. It was constructed of cut limestone. The same family owned the chateau from the time that it was built, up through the 20th century. Jean-Baptiste Bourguignon D’Anville (1697-1782) was the owner of Chevallerie in the 18th century. He served as the Geographer to King Louis XV, and the cities of Danville, Pennsylvania and Vermont were named after him. The subsequent owner of the chateau served as a Treasurer and advisor to both Louis XV and Louis XVI.
Château de la Chevallerie is the fourth château owned by acclaimed designer Timothy Corrigan, reaffirming his great love of restoring and bringing back to life these relics of France’s glory days. The French Heritage Society has honored Corrigan for his work in French restoration.
A full-service stay includes a champagne welcome, access to all public rooms and gardens, and luxurious bedrooms each with a bath ensuite. Housekeeping and breakfast are included. Additional meal service is available upon request, Please contact us for information on availability.
